Abstract
BC should adopt proportional representation as in Switzerland, together with direct democracy.  Electoral change will be difficult unless proposed changes are accepted in referendums which are binding on governments. [1 page]

Submission Content
1)   I am in favor of a total revision of the election system.

2)   My choice is direct democracy; only Canadian Citizens should vote with one person one vote.

3)   There should be proportional representation as in Switzerland.

4)   The people should have the power to submit an Initiative and force the government to submit a proposition to the people at a Referendum.

5)   Personally, I think that the work undertaken by the Citizens’ Assembly will have only a small chance of success. The last time we had an opportunity to vote on a referendum to remove an errant MLA, it took months and some prodding to find out that the Government were within their constitutional powers to avoid having to let the voters decide.

6)   I feel the next referendum stands only a small chance of success.  This will be so until we get some way to make the referendums unconditionally binding.
