My husband and I are writing to express our support for
electoral reform in British Columbia. We believe the current single
member plurality system is undemocratic, and results in low voter
turn-out, especially among youth. People tend to feel their votes
are wasted and will vote for the lesser-of-two-evils, rather than
the person or party they feel represents their views.
We urge the Citizen's Assembly to recommend a Mixed Member
Proportional (MMP) system for British Columbia. This system would
result in better political representation of the citizens of BC,
and allow smaller parties to gain seats in the legislature.
Thank you very much for your work to ensure that British Columbians
will have a better electoral system in the future.
