For many years I, like others. know that the form of government
that exists, is a poor method of democracy.
We all know that the party with the most elected candidates does
not represent the majority of the people. The winning
political party forms the government and the leader of the party
becomes the dictator with his appointed cabinet, becoming his
henchman and the rest of the elected winning party become desk
thumpers. They have no chance to represent their
riding. If we are to have a democratic system, let us
change the way we vote.
This is my idea for reform. We, the people, are the
investors, and we want to hire individuals to run our
province. These personnel are to be chosen by us by the
voting system. The government should be run like any
business. When an enterprise business requires top
help, they advertise for individuals for the
positions. All businesses have directors which will
advertise for the position required.
These positions will be advertised as follows, namely, Minister
of Agriculture, Minister of Health, Minister of Finance and so
on. At least ten applicants will be chosen by the
directors to be presented to the people to vote on to fill the
position. The individual with the most votes becomes
the top minister. The second replaces him if the first
pick is sick and unable to perform his duty.
Only those representatives with the best qualifications will be
chosen by the people. The director will give each
chosen selected successful applicant a sum of money for him to meet
the people and present themselves to the chosen voters.
This way there will be no money given by corporations or
individuals. The candidates must be fully qualified for
the job applied for. They cannot be shuffled from one
minister position to another. We would not higher a
plumber to do electrical work as the government does
today. When the directors are ready for matters of
government, they have a full debate to voted on by all
representatives of the elected body. The final
selection will be by the people for the next four years, who are
the shareholders for democracy.
The directors will be elected by the people who have served
their Municipality, Province and Federal Governments in
the past with distinction.
