I support an electoral system that:
-
a political party's share of seats is more proportionate to its
share of votes;
-
more votes counting towards electing someone/less wasted
votes;
-
is easily understandable how to vote and how votes are
counted;
-
allows an opportunity to vote for local representation and
political party;
-
encourages a vote for who or what you believe in instead of a
strategic vote to keep out who you disagree with the most;
-
avoids swings of power from left to right, right to left;
and
-
creates a more stable , effective government.
I believe a system that would more truly reflect the number of
votes to the number of seats in the government, would encourage
more eligible voters to vote and a government that would work
together creating longer-lived legislation (instead of spending its
time and efforts undoing what the last government in power
created). I support a system similar to the mixed
member proportional system [MMP] because it encourages
voter participation and makes the application of each vote more
democratic.
