No matter what system will be suggested undoubtedly it will have flaws but it will be a great improvement on what we have today.  First-past-the-post has brought us years of democratically elected dictatorships.

Th electoral system should offer the voter more opportunity to express an opinion on issues like change of policies, change of language, change of health care.  Governments should be forced to consult the voter before they draw conclusions, which doesn't happen today.

Direct democracy may well provide a way of getting voters involved in politics, limiting party voting and expressing their own opinions. The current system of voting does not have much effect, especially in federal elections as the decision is made before western voters have finished voting.

A fine for not showing up at elections, would encourage people to vote (the fine could be given to a charity like the Children's Hospital) This system could be run by Elections BC.
