Abstract
An MMP system with an open list is the most useful model to adopt if it takes adequate consideration of those of us living in rural British Columbia. Clearly a threshold needs to be set to preclude too many parties receiving seats. [1 page]

First, I wish to thank the members of the Citizens' Assembly for taking the time to assume the responsibility to study how we may reform our method of electing the Legislative members.

I believe that we must improve the system to encourage more people to participate, both in voting and in seeking election. A democracy only works if people participate. I believe that having one's vote count is important.

I wish to encourage you to recommend that we move to a Proportional Representation model and one that takes adequate consideration of those of us living in rural British Columbia.

From my minimal understanding it seems that the MMP with an open list is the most useful model to adopt. Clearly a threshold needs to be set to preclude too many parties receiving seats.
