I am fed up with the political situation in BC, where one party
comes to power after years in opposition, and begins to destroy
whatever the other one has built, perhaps out of spite as much as
an opposing vision.
And the most recent election left us without an effective
opposition at all, and the new government, in my view, has
seriously abused its power in enacting far-reaching legislation
with no mandate for most of its actions.
So I strongly support some form of Mixed Member Proportional
electoral system. I realize politics will always be politics, but I
feel the MMP system will at least provide a more balanced and
stable government and opposition, as well as improved democracy,
since smaller parties will also be able to have a voice in the
legislature.
I am very excited about the potential for a new electoral system in
BC.
